Matthew
Christopher wedding gowns & dresses
Matthew Christopher began his bridal career in NYC with
an internship at Demetrios Bridal. He utilized his time
there by learning, watching, and doing. Matthew credits
Jimmy Elias and his design team for being an inspiration
as well as allowing him to nurture and apply his
creative talent.
With a completed internship and his confidence soaring,
Matthew earned a design assistant position at Candice
Solomon, One of a Kind Bride, a couture bridal line.
There, Matthew acquired the knowledge and skills
necessary for working with couture gowns. This would
later prove to be one of Matthew's strongest points for
his own collection.
A couture gown must not only be beautiful on the outside. Construction and
fit are vital, he explains.

As Matthew's intense
ambition grew and dreaming of one day seeing his name in
print next to his designs, Matthew took the position of
designer at Galina Bridal, designing their Galina,
Bouquet, and bridesmaid collections. Matthew brought to
Galina a more modern and sophisticated look.
The collections were advertised in Brides, Modern Bride,
and other major bridal publications and received
numerous editorials crediting his name.
Matthew next received a call from Watters and Watters
and moved on to freelance for the company. He designed
for all collections, which led to a successful
advertising campaign.
Next stop China: Matthew then took a position with
Casablanca Bridal designing top selling bridal gowns for
the collection. This also enhanced his knowledge of
overseas production proving to be a critical turning
point for Matthew and the commencing of Matthew
Christopher Incorporated. Matthew Christopher's unique
combination of youthful fashion forward design
intertwined with sophisticated classic silhouettes makes
him one of today's most talked about bridal designers.
From molded bodices and sculptured necklines to sweeping
ball gowns of a time gone by - and yet so yearned after
by today's brides to recreate - Matthew Christopher
creates his signature style of delicate crystal beading
and soft detailing with the finest of fabrics from the
creamiest of silks through the fine layers of tulle.
Never forsaking value and quality while always paying
attention to detail in today's market is how Matthew
Christopher defines his spring 2003 bridal collection.
Retailers will have the opportunity to view the Spring
2003 collection at national bridal markets. The
collection can be seen at the Chicago bridal market from
September 28th through October 1st and at the New York
bridal market from October 5th through October 10th,
with an exciting premiere show the opening weekend of
New York market. We look forward to working with all of
you in the next few months. |
